Behavioral Health Guidelines

The Behavioral Health Guidelines provide indications at five different levels of care, and the appropriateness of specific psychological, behavioral, and pharmacologic therapies are addressed. Tools and criteria are provided that can aid in developing outpatient alternatives to higher levels of care, facilitating the progress of patients whose recovery is delayed, and developing comprehensive plans for transition from one level of care to another. The fifteen guideline groups cover the full spectrum of behavioral health diagnoses – all available from the leader in evidence-based clinical guidelines and software, Milliman Care Guidelines.

Important Information About the Milliman Care Guidelines: The Care Guidelines can be used by qualified, healthcare professionals as a tool in making medical necessity decisions, but they should not be used as the sole basis for denying coverage of payment. The Care Guidelines must be applied to the individual patient on a case-by-case basis and always in the context of a qualified, healthcare professional’s clinical judgment.
